Dolphin Man....Mission DONE!

When we presented his attempt, crossing for 3300m (10826 feet) the Maggiore Lake swimming only at butterfly stroke, we first remaned astonished and thinking: It will be possible? We keept in contact with the athlete till some days before the attempt. He continuosly said us: it's all ok, I can do it, the tests confirme what I thought.....Well, sunday at 5PM the call, Fabio.....I did it...great joy and satisfaction for Eros, that at this achievement devoted time and energy. Now that all is finish he can enjoy the taste of having done a record to be beat, we reached him to lo abbiamo raggiunto per farci raccontare da lui come è andata:

D:
Eros congratulation, now you can tell us: how do you feel a few hours after the incredible butterfly swimming?

R:
The emotions are so many and are positive emotions, with a little of agitation for the numerous things that are following one another: the award, the congratulation of important persons that I didn't know, a lot of friends are calling me and the interview for different newspapers.
The cup, for which I have partecipated and I have fought, is a nice view in the sitting room of my house. Seeing it I feel good, it's like if she said me “Here you are arrived!”.

D:
Tell us your feeling before the loud sound of the start

R:
I was worried: the lake was rough, I had done the warm up and I understood that it wouldn't be easy. The different and often contradictory suggestion make me feel unsteady … "But how you can swim butterfly with a rough lake … well I try! … If you don't finish you have all the reasons because the lake is rough

D:
Some days before you told us that you had some difficulties to move the arms due to the wetsuit.

R:
I have to say that the first time I wore Aquasphere ICON wetsuit I thought “Good heavens! I float” and after some crawl stroke “now I understand why the swimmers are so fast in open water!”. Against these positive things the restrain due to the wearing of a wetsuit, oblige the swimmer to force the shoulder articulations. Aquasphere knows this fact and so studied a different tissue for the shoulders. If swimming crawl stroke this is not so difficult, swimming butterfly stroke for long distances becames very hard.

D:
Do you think that this achievement could improve the standards of the wetsuit? Do you think a Dolphin man Aquasphere wetsuit could follow?

R:
This was really a special test of Aquasphere. Swimming butterfly for long distance I have to optimize all the movement and so I notice all the details. Well! it would be fantastic to have an Aquasphere wetsuit optimized by Dolphin man

D:
What was the difficult part of the record?

R:
The hard part was at mid race. The buoy was fix at my feet and sometimes I threw it with my feet. The strong wind carried the buoy in front of my head and I had to shun it. When I was able to get into the wave swing and do the stroke during the upper part of the wave it was easy to swim, otherwise it was difficult. Another problem was when the wave was trasversal respect of my way. An arm entered in the water before the other and I had to use different efforts in the two arms in order to do a symmetrical movement.

D.
They had to change the race route and short the race but the lake conditions were hard .... very hard

R:
The original race distance was 3300m, while the one in lake critical conditions was a little more than 2500m. The Organization had to wait for the permission to do the race in that lake conditions. I spoke with other swimmers and they confirmed me that they had the same difficulties swimming in that lake condition. Moreover I was difficult for me to follow the shorter way because of the fog inside the goggles. I finishe in 59min a good time considering the bad lake conditions.

D:
Who knows what thought the freestyle swimmers that you overcame ... If I had been them I would have withdrawn :):)

R:
Indeed I started as last with about 200m-300m of distace from the group and I overcame all the swimmers that arrived after me. Sincerely I think that also they were enough tired to notice that I was swimming butterfly stroke.

D:
le tue prime sensazioni appena hai toccato terra....

R:

R:
In effetti ci sto’ pensando.

D:
chi vuoi ringraziare in modo particolare?

R:

R:
